My New Favorite Hike - Caribou Falls Trail

Nestled along the iconic North Shore of Lake Superior, Caribou Falls Wayside Trail is a haven for nature lovers seeking tranquility. Located near milepost 70 on Highway 61, this trail offers a quick but memorable escape into the heart of Minnesota’s wilderness.

The hike to Caribou Falls is just over a mile round-trip, making it accessible for adventurers of all skill levels. The trail guides you through the lush forest and along the Caribou River, with the soothing sound of rushing water guiding your way. 

I even spotted a Downy woodpecker! 

The highlight is the breathtaking 35-foot waterfall—a dramatic cascade surrounded by rugged rock formations and vibrant greenery.

Visitors can pause at the viewing platforms to soak in the view or venture down the wooden stairs to get closer to the falls. Be sure to bring your camera—this spot is perfect for capturing the essence of the North Shore!
